Bob built a Ranch in Campbell Hall, NY, in the mid-1990's on a 40 acre property adjoining the Stewart Buffer Zone where he pursued trail riding and pleasure driving. Bob became intrigued with reining through an introduction to Francis Mercier. He began learning the sport of reining and took lessons to gain experience in the special manuevers that make up a reining pattern. Bob purchased his first reining horse, Mark Him Mighty (aka Scooter) in 2003. As his knowledge and passion for the sport increased, Bob quickly outgrew his home based facility in Campbell Hall. Construction on Santa Hill's current facility was completed in 2009

Bob Santagata's horses and Santa Hill Ranch compete internationally. He is a member of the NRHA and on the board of EPHRA. Bob sponsors shows and classes at NRHA recognized events throughout the United States.

The Ranch is currently promoting three top-caliber stallions, Itsa Bingo Greyhound, Friday Night Shiner and Done Being Smart.

Although Bob doesn't personally compete in reining, he can often be found riding the 150 acres of the ranch on his trail mounts Aspen (appaloosa) and Peppy, or in the arena perfecting his turnarounds on one of his many show horses.
